北京時間10月2日17時45分左右，2018年諾貝爾物理學獎揭曉。美國科學家Arthur Ashkin、Gérard Mourou和加拿大科學家Donna Strickland（女）獲得2018年諾貝爾物理學獎 。
值得一提的是，這是諾貝爾物理學獎史上，第三次授予女性科學家。之前獲得諾貝爾物理學獎的兩位女科學家分別是1903年獲獎的瑪麗·居里(Marie Curie)，以及1963年獲獎的瑪麗亞·戈普波特·梅耶爾(Maria Goeppoert Mayer)。

激光物理領域開創性發明
